Biography

About

Dr. Javad Vahidi is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science within the School of Mathematics and Computer Science at Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) in Tehran. His work sits at the meeting point of applied mathematics and computer science, and he is known for research that carries rigorous mathematical method into practical computational problems.

His scholarship began in numerical analysis and differential equations — including semi-analytical techniques such as the Adomian decomposition method, the homotopy perturbation method and the variational iteration method — and has since broadened into optimization, fuzzy systems, image processing, information security and, more recently, deep learning and quantum-inspired machine learning.

Alongside his position at IUST he has been affiliated with Mazandaran University of Science and Technology, and he maintains an active record of peer-reviewed publication in international journals and conferences, indexed across Scopus, Google Scholar, IEEE Xplore, DBLP and Civilica.

Beyond research, Dr. Vahidi is committed to graduate supervision and to teaching the mathematical foundations that underpin modern computing — from discrete mathematics and linear algebra to the theory of algorithms and computational intelligence.

Guiding principles

Philosophy

On the essence of learning mathematics and computer science — and what a student should carry out of a lecture hall long after the syllabus is forgotten.

Mathematics is not a body of formulas to be memorised, but a discipline of thought — a way of asking a question precisely, reasoning about it honestly, and reaching a conclusion that withstands scrutiny. Computer science is where that discipline meets the world and is asked to prove itself.

Areas of expertise

Research Interests

A research programme that connects classical mathematical analysis with contemporary computational intelligence.

Peer-reviewed output

Selected Publications

A selection from a body of work exceeding two hundred journal articles, conference papers and book chapters. The complete and continuously updated record is available on Scopus and Google Scholar.

This selection lists only records confirmed against DBLP, Springer and the author’s indexed profiles. It is a partial view — the authoritative, complete list is on Scopus and Google Scholar.
